On January 31, 2015 the official opening of the conference on “Centennial of the Armenian Genocide: consequences and tasks”, was held in Haigazian University in Beirut. The event was organized on the initiative of Lebanese Centenary Central body and Haigazian University.

The opening ceremony of the conference began with the national anthems of the Republic of Armenia and Lebanon. The director of Haigazian University delivered his opening speech, “Our presence in this unique place is the result of the passed way of our ancestors. Haigazian University is the witness of the Armenian Genocide as it was founded in the memory of the Genocide martyr Armenag Haigazian”. The member of Lebanese Centenary Central body Kandaharian told that the conference was of great importance among the other events as it outlined the major points and axes of further activities. 

The first session entitled “Consequences of the Genocide and International Law for their Abolition” took place after the official opening of the conference. 

The Deputy Director of Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute Suren Manukyan delivered his report on “The Demographic, cultural, geographical, economic and political consequences of the Armenian Genocide” and the Head of the Legal Consulting Service of the RA Constitutional Court Vladimir Vardanyan’s report was on “Abolition of consequences of the Armenian Genocide in the frameworks of the international law.

The second session was on “International Community’s reaction to the exploitation of the issue of the Armenian Genocide by States”. The two reports delivered were on “The international community's reaction during and after the Armenian Genocide” (Zaven Msrlian, in English) and “The exploitation of the issue of the Armenian Genocide by States against Turkey” (Saleh Zahreddine, in Arabian). 

The third session was completely devoted to the Armenian-Turkish relations during which Arsen Avagyan delivered his report on “The Relations of Turkey and the Republic of Armenia in 1991-2014” and journalist Tatul Hakobyan’s report was on  “The Armenian-Turkish non-state relations” 

The third session of the conference was entitled “The Minorities of the Republic of Turkey and the Turks”

The presentation of the books of Nora Arisyan and Tatul Hakobyan took place at the end of the conference.
