  On November 12, 2014, 19 Czech-Armenian painters and sculptors showed their works at an exhibition held under the patronage of the Armenian and Czech Ministries of Culture and the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in the hall of the agency “Czech Centers of Prague” that will last until November 22.

The event began with an opening speech of the General Director of the “Czech Centers of Prague” Vilma Anizhova. Then the Minister of Culture of Armenia Hasmik Poghosyan, Czech Deputy Minister of Culture Katerina Kalistova and Armenia’s Ambassador in Czech Republic Tigran Seyranyan also delivered their speeches.

The Minister of Culture of Armenia Hasmik Poghosyan mentioned the importance of presenting Armenian culture in the Czech Republic, and considered the exhibition a “little Armenia” in the center of Prague and added that the Armenian painters brought the colours and soul of Armenia with themselves. The Minister suggested organizing another exhibition of works of the Armenian painters of Czech Republic in Armenia too, in 2015. 

Mrs. Kalistova emphasized that the exhibition is unique in many aspects, since it is a large project that contributes to the Czech-Armenian cultural cooperation. 

The Ambassador Seyranyan presented the catalogue of the exhibition that was printed by the Armenian “Astghik gratun” Publishing House (designed by painter Hrayr Gharibyan under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture of Armenia and Armenian businessmen in Czech Rep. Gevorg Avetisyan and Aramayis Mezhlumyan).

The authors of the works, spiritual pastor of the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia, Archimandrite Barsegh Pilavchyan, Czech deputies, deplomats, foreign ambassadors; artists and cultural figures as well as the representatives of the Armenian community were present at the opening ceremony.
